One year older, One year wiser

20:20

I can't believe I am actually 17!

I don't feel 17 and I certainly don't look 17 but perhaps with the things I've learned in a year of being sixteen I can say that I did get older, not only that, but also wiser.
I've had too many life realizations in my seventeen years of existence.

1. Take risks not what ifs

taking opportunities has and will always be better than living filled with thoughts of that alternate universe wherein you took a chance. If that decision came out negatively then you learn. Take the risk because we never know what God has planned for us.

2. Respect

I can never emphasise how important this is!!!! You can get along with people so well if you just learn how to respect and I swear it makes life waaay easier

3. Learn to accept mistakes

no one is perfect but that doesn't mean you can't strive for the best person you can be and in order to obtain that I've come to learn that we need to accept our faults to make room for improvement

4. Impress your self

there is a point in life where you would care so much of what people think of you, you'd do everything to impress them but why not impress yourself first? Yes, other people's opinions matter too - don't be indifferent but be someone who YOU can be proud of.

5. Hard work beats talent

this is pretty self explanatory. If you work hard for something you can achieve it even if it wasn't meant for you at first. Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.

6. Stay positive

always find something good in every situation, even if you have had the absolute worst day imaginable. Keep your head up.

7. Be Thankful

you're alive. be thankful for all you have.

8. Be yourself

don't pretend to be someone you're not. You're only making your life harder and believe me you will be much happier if you become true to yourself and to the people around you!

9. Family comes first

I have proven and tested that no matter what happens, no matter how many times you fall it will always be your family, more especially your parents who will come to save you no matter what the situation is. Your family and of course, God will always be there for you.

Which brings me to the last realization

10. Keep your relationship with God strong

no matter how hard life has hit you, no matter how many times you fall, no matter how much you're hurt never turn your back away from Him. There might be times wherein you don't feel his presence but he's there, believe me. Take at least a minute of your every day to just talk to Him, tell Him how your day went, thank Him for every blessing, say sorry for the things you regret doing - just talk to Him because he is listening.
